This picture shows a performative act taking place in an art school library. I turned all the books to leave the white spine apparent. This act was led by a reflexion on the discursive imperative that art education tends to impose. Referencing and documenting our work means in a way, a negation of chance in the creative process. Performing such an act in a library is a way to introduce chance in our cultural background itself, as an attempt to reach John Locke’s utopic « blank state ».
